There are some perks to owning a business. On Friday Don got a call from the company that we advertise with and she had 3 tickets to the High School Music the Ice Tour at the Honda Center that she wasn't going to be able to use. The company was sponsoring that nights show and they had a special pre-show event gathering where we got to meet and take pictures with a couple of the skaters. They also had free programs, pom-poms, megaphones, churros, pretzels, and sodas. Not only did we get all the freebies the seats were awesome we sat 5 rows back from the ice. The show was great Nick sang every song and he has the movies memorized so he did all the dance moves as well. There was a little boy sitting in front of us that covered his ears and looked back at us like 100 times...Oh Well. To say the least Tatum, Nick and I had a wonderful time.

Christmas 08
This year the holidays really came quick. I of course waited until the last minute to start shopping and even waited until the last minute to start shopping for the Christmas dinner which I hosted. I had to go to two stores to find a turkey it was almost a very scary situation.

Metallica What was I thinking
Trevor, his friend Sergio, and I went to the Metallica concert last night for Trevor's 16th birthday. We had the best time. Our tickets were for the floor so we ended up 2 people back from the railing next to the stage. To start off this is the first concert I have ever been so close (with the exception of Van Halen but we had seats) and I don't think that this was the concert to do this at. At first it was great then it started getting crowded and the boys and I got seperated. As long as they were together it was ok. Then behind me were these French guys who were plotting to make their way to the front as soon as the lights went out. They tried but big mama(thats me) didn't let that happen a little elbow the crotch and an elbow in the side they settled down a little. That didn't last long they pushed and shoved and then after I would say 30min I lost it and started yelling pushing back and cussing like no other. It was great after that I made some friends since I was by myself the entire concert it was nice to talk to somebody.
There was moshing crowd surfing and people fighting and it was great and scary. After the concert was over I found Sergio and Trevor. Trevor was so excited because he also made some friends that pushed him up to crowd surf he had a blast. We have so many stories to share. On the way to the car he hugged me and said thanks mom. What an awesome moment. YOU'RE WELCOME TREVOR AND HAPPY 16th BIRTHDAY and NO the next concert is not Slip Knot I'm getting to old for this. How about Elton John or Journey?

Vegas 08
Las Vegas in the Winter time is much different than in the summer. It was wicked cold and very windy. This years group stayed downtown at the Plaza. We all arrived before 10:00pm on Friday so we all ate dinner togethor and then went out site seeing down Fremont street. We gambled at a few different places and got some drinks and had a great time. After walking for a while we found this little bar called Hennessey's it had a live bad playing rock music and they were relly good. On Saturday we were going to head to the strip but why when we were having so much fun downtown. They had $3.00 tables and not many people on them. We did go to dinner on the strip at the Harley Davidson Cafe (my favorite Vegas dinner place) Everyone seemed to enjoy it. We had at least 3-4 shots each and tried several of their specialties that were very tasty. It was to cold to walk around so we went bak to our hotal and to our favorite new hangout at Hennessey's.
Some highlights were:
1) Having a suite and having everyone come up to our room for drinks
2) Having someone buy me a drink and seeing Don get Jealous. He does love me :)
3) Watching Margaret roll the dice on the crap table and instead of the dice landing on the table hitting people on the head.
4) Watching Ken Laugh histerically at the commedian at the Fitzgeralds
5) Having Jodi lend me her sneaker slippers becuse I couldn't walk drunk in my new girlie shoes
6) Hitting a Full house on Let It RIde on the first night and losing all the others
7) Guessing if one of the ladies in the fluffy suits was a lady or a man
8) Laughing at Derrick because of what the comedian said about chinese character tatoos
9) Spending some needed alone time with Don
10) Taking Ken and Jodi to the airport and having a nice dinner before taking off.
Thank you everyone for such a great time. This trip will go down in the history books. I can't wait to plan the next outing maybe the next one needs to be Lake Tahoe (Skiing during the day and gambling at night)
Good luck Ken on Tusan(sp?) We be thinking of you guys as you go through the process.

Getting back to normal
Because of the recent fires in our quite little city things have been different. The air, my car, and house all smell like smoke, the kids got some extra days off and Trevor still hasn't gone back though we got a phone call today saying that the High School is open on Monday. Every where we go the topic is "How close were you to the fire". "Is your family ok?". The good thing is that with the kids going back to school we can all get back to normal. We can now start to move our focus on how to replant our city. I feel sad for the folks that have lost their homes and hope that I can do something to help. I don't know what it will be but I will do what I can.
As for my family we are all doing well and ready to get back to our sports. Triston has Baseball tomorrow and Tatum has a cheer competition on Sunday. For Trevor wrestling get's back on Monday.
Don and I don't have anything going but getting ready for the holidays. For Thanksgiving we are going to Don's moms for dinner and the kids are excited to see their little cousin Jacob. Then of course our Vegas trip that we have been looking forward to (No kids).

It's finally over
Football is finally over. The team had a losing season with only one win. I have to say that our team stuck it out and never gave up. They had to overcome a lot of obstacles but they did it and I hope that they can look at this season as one that showed their perserverence and character. Trevor suited up for every Varsity game but never played a down but he kept his spirits high and definatly enjoyed the pre-game meals. At the JV level we also had a losing season with only 3 wins . Once again perserevence and character shined in these boys. Trevor started every game and had a great year with 3 interceptions and 2 fumble recoverys. He can't wait till next season but first tomorrow we start wrestling and then on to track. No rest for the college bound.
TREVOR WE ARE SO PROUD OF YOU. KEEP LIVING LIFE TO THE FULLEST AND NEVER LET ANYTHING GET IN THE WAY OF YOUR DREAMS. WE LOVE YOU.

I finally did it
Yesterday Trevor comes home and says I think I'm going to wrestle. YEAH VICTORY!!!!! I have been on Trevor to at least try wrestling since last year. I think that he would be very good at it. This Saturday is the meet the coach and 1st practice event and he is going to go. It took a lot of asking and talking to friends to talk him into it. The workouts are very difficult I have heard and I think will help him in football. He is already small so he won't have to loose weight to make a weight class. AND I AM JUST SO EXCITED. I'm excited to see him one on one on the mat. I can take video and pictures and it will be all of him. I think their first match is in December I will keep you informed.

Proud mommy
Today was one of those days that you think to yourself "What did I do to deserve this". Today Don and I went to watch Tatum receive Student of the Month at school. She was so surprised and so happy. We are really proud of her. She is such a good girl and good student. Her teacher told me today that when she told Don yesterday the news Don actually welled up with tears she had to hand him a tissue. Not trying to embarrass you honey but I know that you are so proud of her and you should be. So with Tatum we can get a student of the month sticker and right next to it for the boys we can get the sticker that says my son can beat up your student of the month :) I love diversity

Busy and exciting weekend
Today I will start out with the not so fun events that we had. On Thursday Trevor's football team lost again with a 41-12 score. Trevor did get a fumble recovery so that was a highlight. The team is so tired of losing that they are now starting to bicker with one another. Our quarterback got another concussion and will be out for the rest of the season. This time he got taken away on a stretcher and an ambulance I hope that he is ok. Well the good news is that we only have 3 more games and then it is on to preparing for next season. I have been asking Trevor to Wrestle though because I think that he would be good at it. I hope that he does.

Kyle ended up losing the match but really impressed us. After the match we were off to Tatum's football game. It was the Playoffs semi final and the boys were really excited and the girls wanted to do their best. The team ended up losing but the girls did great they had an announcer and when timeouts were called or end of quarters they would play music and the girls would go crazy. It was fun. Kids test our patients but it makes us stronger
Today was the twins conferences. First we saw Tatum's teacher. Wow is all I have to say. She is doing so good. You know it is going to go well when the teacher starts off saying I love your daughter. I guess she is really helpful and really helps other kids that may need it. She is performing well in all classees but Social Studies. The good news is that the teacher is willing have her come in at lunch to work on getting caught up. I know Tatum will take that help and do what she can to do better.
Triston on the other hand we have some issues that need to be dealt with. He is hanging in there on grades and I know that he will have A's and B's but behaviorly he is struggling. He just can't keep his hands to himself. I don't think that he is intentionally hurting anyone rather just being rougher than most kids. He gets along great with his friends so I just don't understand where the roughness is coming from. I was really upset at his conference though when the only thing that the teacher was talking about was his behavior. I had to bring up his grades and how his work performance in class was. It was like she didn't even want to talk about that. What frustrated me was that Don and I know that Triston has something going on we are doing positive reinforcements with him and punishing him if he has had a bad day. I get daily updates by his teacher regarding his day and Don and I still don't know how to fix the issue but we are working on it, we know about it, we are doing all that we can. STOP BEATING US UP ALREADY. We already feel bad enough first that he might hurt somebody and secondly that we don't know how to help him. We didn't expect to sit there for 30min and be lectured about counseling and medication and why haven't we found out what was wrong. I for one don't believe in medication unless absolutley nessesary. My sister had ADD/ ADHD and was on medication all of her life. It never helped her and now she is in jail and addicted to drugs. The doctors could never get the dosage right so she was either a zombie or she felt that she couldn't control herself. So now you know why it would scare me.
This morning before the conferences I was looking back at some old pictures of when the twins were little. They were so cute and we did some awesome things when they were little. We had big birthdays every year, we went camping a lot and it just seems that now we have to many things going on. I told Don tonight that I want to go back to taking those little weekend trips and just get a chance to reconnect. I wonder where I should start first. I think I will plan a trip to Joshua Tree because Tatum and I had such a great time and we know that the boys would have a blast. Maybe we shoud plan another cruise. Jodi you in?

Over all not so bad
Today Don, Trevor, and I went to talk to his teachers and school counselor. It was a great meeting. I found out that he is at least trying since we started talking to him about his grades. He has risen his World History grade a significant amount and his teacher thinks that if he keeps it up he may have an A by the time Semester grades come out.
His spanish teacher told us that he needs to focus and not talk to the girl behind him though she thinks that she is helping him stay on task (I wonder if that is the girl he asked to Homecoming). He was missing a workbook for her class so we bought another one and hopefully he can now get caught up.
He is getting an A+ in Lit I hope that he can keep that going since he went to summer school this past summer becuase of this class but once again it was because of the homework.
His math teacher didn't show but we knew that she wouldn't. Trevor told us that it is not to hard of a class but that he is just not doing the work and that he would do better.
The hardest class of all Honors Bio. Not sure what I should do. Do I take him out of the class or do I leave him in it and make him try harder. I feel like I should keep him in it and let him try harder but then I take the risk of him failing the class. As of right now I told his teacher that I would like daily reports from her and I hope that I we can get him to succed.
Tomorrow is the twins conferences so I will let you know how it goes.

Camping Weekend
This weekend I had to work though it didn't feel like work except that I wasn't at home. The district that I run had a Webelos Camporall, in laymens terms a campout and skills competition for 4th and 5th graders, it was a lot of fun. The chairmen in charge did a gret job. We had 166 people out there and the weather was beautiful. We did have a couple of challenges. First, we were at the reserve base and the guys who delivered our water buffalos ran over some sewage pipe so it smelled really bad. We tried to shovel sand on it to cover the smell and to soak up the water but it didn't work to well. We closed it off with Caution tape and worked with the smell. Second, the area was covered with gopher holes. They weren't in just one area but all over the place. I was being so carefull and the kids were running every where. I knew that if anyone was going to fall it was going to be me but I did good and to my knowledge no one got hurt. I would call this event 100% a success. For our next district event it is snow camping at the end of January. I can't wait...NOT.
The kids had games again this past week Trevor lost both football games actually I should say slatered. I feel bad for these guys our team has so many kids out because of injury there is nothing that we can do. Tatum cheer squad is amping up for a competion this upcoming Sunday at the Long Beach convention center and the team that she cheers for won again so they are in playoffs maybe going to the best game in pop warner football the "Orange Bowl". The girls are doing a really good job and I think that the players actually appreciate that they are there. Triston won his soccer game on Saturday 5-0 he got to play the whole second half which doen't happen very much anymore as is the subber for now. In his Baseball game he got to pitch the first two innings. He did ok the first inning but allowed 2 runs in the second he did much better. He didn't hit any good balls in the game but in practice he was bombing them to the outfield. I mean line drives. He hasn't practiced all year either so I told him not to be upset that once he gets a couple practices in him all the fundamentals will come back. His team went on to win 10-4. Don had a busy weekend with lots of parties for the stores and with me gone he did a lot of juggling. Trevor worked for him on Sunday and hosted a party and did a great job as Party Host and he got a $20 tip. I'm really proud of him he really know how do his job at the store and do it well. I know I complain a lot about his behavior but he is really a good kid that tries to be good. I love you Trevor.
This week is conference week for the twins and I have set a meeting with Trevor's teachers to see how he is doing so I will have many posts this week.

What a weekend
Well the Havard family has done it again. Another great weekend under their belt. Where do I begin?
Trevor - Our varsity team on Friday night had a horrible night we lost 41-0. Trev didn't play but no problem because this week the JV game was on Saturday morning. Trevor played the entire game and the defense dominated. We won 3-0 Trevor got his second interception of his Sophmore year. The game was a nail bitter Valencia had a chance to tie it up with 12 seconds left on the clock with a field goal but the kicker kicked the ball and it hit the goal posts. Next week we head into league games with the first one being against Tustin. I love high school sports they are so much fun to watch.
Tatum -Triston and Tatum had their first 6th grade dance on Friday night. She had such a great time hanging out with her friends. I guess she even danced with a boy (good thing older bro by 45min was there). After the dance her friend Alyssa spent the night and that kept her busy. On Saturday she had her game to cheer for. It was freezing cold. It dipped down to 60 and it was windy(don't judge me Jodie and Ken). After the game she went to watch Alyssa cheer and spent the night at her house. So to say the least she didn't get much sleep and it was really busy.
Triston - He started off the weekend with a Soccer game Saturday morning and they lost 1-2. The other team was really rough and I think played a little dirty but I guess every now and then we will run into teams like that. They boys played great and hard. Triston also went to the dance on Friday night but he said that it was boring. There is definatley a difference between boys and girls and it is somewhat hilarious to watch it happen at the same time in the same house. After the dance Don saw one of Triston's old basketball coaches who is currently coaching a winter baseball team who told Don that they had lost some players and would Triston like to play. So because we can't say no we are now playing winter baseball on Sunday afternoons. I guess as long as the kids are having fun and staying out of trouble it's ok to run my husband and I ragged. It will make it that much easier when they leave for college because Don and I will actually be able to spend some time together on our own.
As for Don and I we enjoyed going to all the above sporting activities. The kids did wonderful and we can't wait for next weekend. After Tatum's game on Saturday night we went out with some friends to a place in Costa Mesa. I had such a great time. We got there expecting to be able to eat dinner and we ordered a hamburger that we had to cook on our own on a BBQ that they had on the patio. We had several drinks and danced the night away. Well the girls danced and the guys watched sports on the TV. I had this drink that was 40oz and came in a keep sake glass it was very yummy it was called a Blue Hawaii. I think that I will have to have another one of those when I go to Las Vegas. After dancing a couple of us went to Denny's to have a 1:00am snack we had a great time talking and just hanging out without kids. It was real adult time that was very much needed. I would like to go back there sometime though I really like my Country western bar better. Dancing is really great exercise and I should do it more often. I wish that the kids could go with me though I think that would be a great place a club that only serves soda and water and is a family atmospere for family dancing fun even if it is only that way on sunday nights and the rest of the week a regular club. I think that I have another business to start writing a proposal for.
I want to thank Jodi, Ken, Amber, Justin, Kaylee, Kaylee's huband, Janet, Mark, Tatum, Triston, Trevor and Don for making it a weekend to remember. Next time I will have to bring the camera.

The Blocks in the Road -Be Warned I feel a little depressed today
That staement "when it rains it pours" it is so true. I find myself in a time where I have no time to do anything. I have neglected my kids, my house is a mess, Trevor is having trouble in school, Triston is also having some trouble at school but in a different way. Don and I seem to be working so much that we don't see eachother. Tatum is handling things very well though I see her following in my footsteps and using food as her escape from the issues that are before her. I'm so blessed to be able to have the funds to put her in sports and keep her active.

and there is so much more that needs to be done. As you can see in the pictures we planted grass but I need to get my plants and flowers, a new garage door, and new entry door. Also the other side of the front of the house needs to be done with siding. So it isn't like I can quit and in these uncertain times who knows if our stores will continue to make a profit. I know that soon the family is going to have to work on Sunday afternoons to cut down on payroll. Posted by socalbekah at 1:22 PM 2 comments

Trevor had a great game on Thursday. They won 28-20 so our record is 2-1. Trevor got an interception. It was amazing the entire sidelines jumped up and down and hit his helmet in excitment being the mom it was a great moment. He was invited to suit up for Varsity again on Friday but didn't play. They lost 35-24. Maybe they should let him play.
Triston didn't have a game this weekend so he was able to enjoy himself playing his x-box and swimming with his friend.

This weekend was one of those weekends that you don't want to end. It started on Thursday with the JV football game. Trevor did so good he had several tackles and almost an interception. He played the entire game and loved every minute of it. We won 22-13 against Sonora which is in La Habra. On Friday night at the Varsity game it was a close game. Trevor suited up and was excited to be out on the field but he didn't get to play but that was alright he knew that he would only go in if someone got hurt. Me being the proud mom got there an hour early, got a great seat, and had my camera all ready just in case. They lost after a very exciting game 20-16.
The soccer field was just as exciting today with a 4-0 victory for Triston's team. Their record is now 2 wins and 1 tie. So far so good I hope that they can keep it up. The coach was very happy with the boys. Next week they have a bye so that means a break I wonder what he will do. I think that he wants to go golfing.
Tatum's team also did good tonight. They won 14-0. The girls cheered very loud and are really working hard to get ready for competition. They have 1 in December, 2 in January and 1 in Vegas in February. This is the longest season ever but she really enjoys it. When December comes around it gets really hard because basketball season begins and we have double duty. Next week Tatum will be missing cheer because we will be heading up to Joshua Tree for Girl Scouts. It should be a really fun weekend. I can't wait to go camping we haven't been camping in a long time.
As for Don and me we didn't get any alone time this weekend which is not like us as we try and do something. We have started swimming though. Starting this past Monday we have been heating the pool so that every night we can swim beofre we go to bed. It has been great we swim laps for a while and then relax in the spa. It is great exercise as we can both feel it in our legs and arms. The spa is a prefect way to unwind and plan for the next day.
Until the next time

OH NO!!!
So my fear has come true. Trevor came home from practice tonight and says guess what I'm suiting up for Varsity Friday. AWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!! Alright ya'll be patient with me on Friday because I'm going to be a nervous wreck. The good news is the game is away so there is no way that I will get stuck in the snack shack so I can actually enjoy the whole game.
Monday was the twins birthday they turned 12yrs old. I can't believe that they have grown up so fast. I know that I have said that already on another day entry but I truly can't believe it. I'm really proud of them they are very good kids who try their best at everything that they do. They have started off thier 6th grade year with a bang and I hope that they can keep it up. I have plans on taking some pictures this weekend and I will post them if my computer lets me.
I will let you all know how Friday goes and the rest of the sport events this weekend. Someone get me a shot I need to relax :)

Another day in paradise
This has been a busy week of sports starting with Trevor's loss on Thursday and our Varsity game on Friday where I'm the snack shack coordinator. I had to clean it, shop for the food, stock it, and work it because the freshman parents that were scheduled did not show up for their shifts. My gosh we ask them to work one 3 hour shift for the whole season I sent them 3 reminders and they still don't show up. The good news is that I set a goal to earn $2000 for the night and went way above and earned $2800 for the Boosters that night. More than we earned at any game last year. I'am so proud. For those of you who know me well know I strive to be the best at whatever I do and volunteer work is nothing different.
So from football on Friday night to my local hangout at the Karoke bar to hang with some friends and relax. I have such a great time at this place it is not so much the place but the people that are there. Everyone is so friendly and I actually got up and sang last night I sang "I'll Be" by Edwin Mccain and "Friends in Low Places" by Garth Brooks. I go with my friend Jodi and her friend from work Kim. We had such a great time talking about life and planning some upcoming activities. I can't wait we are planning a trip to Vegas in December and there is going to be like 10-15 of us. It is going to be so much fun. We are also planning to go to my favorite country western bar in October to go line dancing. My favorite exercise of all time.
Today Triston had soccer. We won 5-0. Triston scored one of the goals. He has so far scored 3 goals but this is the only one that has counted. The refs called the other 2 offsides though one of them was not. It was totally legal. I have to watch myself I have yet to be thrown off the field but someday I know it is coming. I'm proud of him because he never gets upset he just goes with the flow. Such a positive player and a good sport.
Tatum had Cheer tonight as well. Her team won 24-0 it was a total one sided game. The girls had a great time and they love cheering for the boys after the game when they win. The boys cheer back to them much louder.
After games we went to have pizza a perfect ending for a perfect day.

FIrst Football game
Today was the first football game of the jv season for Trevor up at the high school. We got creamed the final score was 39 to 12. Our offense had 3 fumbles and 2 interceptions. The defense did a great job though you can't tell from the score but they did. Trevor had some great tackles and almost had his own interception. This game was kind of sad for our team we even missed a punt kick which got picked up by the other team on the 10yrd line. OH MY GOSH it was horrible. The good news is it can only get better from here. I believe that the kids are motivated to do better at practice to win next weeks game.
Tomorrow night is Friday Night Lights and as the Snack Shack coordinator it is my debut as well as the kids. I hope that it goes well. I spent nearly $2500 in food and drinks so teenagers bring it on I think I got you covered.

I'm so Tired
Today was a pretty great day. Got the kids up like normal for school. They got showers, lunches, backbacks and out the door on time (a feat in itself). Got to work by 9am to get things squared away for our upcoming recruitment campaign. I start off my day with a hey we are short for our popcorn campaign so we are now having 4pm report meetings until we start to do better. I feel like I'm a little kid being punished. Do they not think we are all doing our job? Ask the volunteers in the area I'm in charge of how much we have been pressuring them to get their orders in. CRAZY!!! Enough of a rampage. I worked late tonight by going to an event called a Court of Honor. I totally remembered why I work where I work. It is for the boys. I heard about all the summer camps and all the fun things they did and about how much they learned it was amazing. These young men are the bright spot and and they help me see the big picture. No only were those boys amazing but when I came home (Don is at work) My own kids had finished their homework and were in bed watching movies. The house was not a diaster and Trevor was even doing his laundry.
Thank you kids for being so great and being the hope for our future

Nervous
Well I'm feeling very nervous lately. There are several reasons on why here is my list of the top 10 reasons on why I'm nervous:
1) The football year has started. Trevor is now a sophmore in high school and is plaing on the JV team. There might be times where he dresses out for Varsity and I don't know if I can take it .
2) The twins are in 6th grade. In one school year my elementary school days are over. It has gone by so quick. I recommend if you are reading this and you have kids take lots of pictures while you can you will never have enough.
3) Money. We have been doing lots of improvments on the house and I think that I'am now offically broke. On the other hand I love our pool with the Rock waterfall and slide with the seat under the waterfall. I love our new air conditioner. The new hard wood floors really sprouse up the house and the planter in the front yard will look awesome when we get the flowers and the flag pole installed.
4) Don leaves on a business trip in a couple of days and I'm here alone with the kids and working from morning until late night
5) Work is going through some changes and the not knowing what is going to happen is klling me.
6) Knowing who to trust is so hard. Why do people have to talk behind your back just tell me things to my face. I can take it I'm a big girl. I wear my big girl panties everyday.

First time
Hello All you Bloggers,
I have never blogged before but I thought that I would give it a try. I have several friends that do it and why the hell not me. I have heard that it is very theraputic and boy do I need some therapy. I look forward to having my friends and family view this page to keep updated on things my family is doing as we are busy most of the time and I don't get the time during the day to keep in touch like I should. I can't wait to get started but tonight is not that night. Check back for the next update. Good night
